Organised by the Aberdeenshire Ranger Service and aided by members of the Portlethen Moss Conservation Group, Portlethen Primary School held their first ever Family Health Walk (as part of a whole week of healthy activities). It went from the school, out to Portlethen Moss, then around certain sections of the Moss.

It had been raining very heavily into the evening and there had been some doubt as to whether the event would take place, but nonetheless, around 60 to 70 children and adults came along. Luckily the rained eased off while the walk was taking part.

The route from the School to the Moss was marked by green footprints, so no one had any excuse to get lost! A quick snack was provided by the school, before three large groups were sent off at staggered intervals.

At various points on the walk round the Moss there were members giving information about the area and what could be seen (and some examples too, such as newts). At each of these points there were markers which allowed the children to get their cards stamped. Once each card was stamped, at the end, each child (and adult too) received a brand new "Portlethen Wood" badge, as designed by Carrie and featured in two local newspapers!
