An email was sent in to the group which is giving some interesting information ...
Hi Portlethen Moss folks, We visited the moss on Monday evening, primarily to look at gorse-clearance work done by BTCV. We recorded a few moths too as we walked around and, in case they are of interest, this is the species list (records will also be lodged with NESBReC North East Scotland Biological Records Centre). I am afraid many are "micros" and so don't have an English name: Crambus lathoniellus Glyphipterix simpliciella Neofaculata ericetella Syndemis musculana Incurvaria praelatella Rhopobota myrtillana Green-veined White Common Heath Fox Moth Narrow-winged Pug The micro moth, Rhopobota myrtillana, is the first record from vice county 91 (Kincardineshire) whilst Incurvaria praelatella is considered a scarce and locally distributed moth in our region. I have attached pics of both these to this email. Hope this is of interest, Cheers Nick Littlewood and Rosie Toney
